Climbing for All courses

Climbing for All is a one-day introduction to Inclusive climbing. It covers the theory and an introduction to the practical and technical skills to support inclusion in a climbing or high ropes setting. The day will cover key skills.

  • Theory including social and medical models of disability.
  • Route and venue choice.
  • Side supported climbing
  • Progress capture systems.
  • Assisted hoists.
  • Supporting transfers and mobility.
  • Jumar/full hoist systems.
  • Giant swings.
  • Wheelchair or free hanging abseils.

Who Is this Course for?

This course is aimed at anyone looking to improve inclusion in their climbing delivery and support their wider EDI Strategy. Although aimed predominantly at Climbing Instructors, it will also introduce the possibilities of disability inclusion for other key professionals such as Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Teachers and Care assistants.

Many of the skills will be transferable to other adventure sports.

Accredited CPD

Climbing for All is recognized as CPD for Instructors by all Mountain Training Boards, National Mountaineering Associations in the UK and Ireland and the Association of Mountaineering Instructors.
